This week there were hints of spring starting to show for this #wednesdaywalk by 
Just last week the whole place was covered in snow, now it has all melted and the birds are out all over the place. The sparrows were posing nicely in the afternoon light.
As usual every time I walk by this bush there is a sparrow sitting in this exact spot. They love the density of this bush as they can dive in to safety here easily.
Just last week the lake was frozen over, now its fully thawed out and the geese are loving it.
Mallards are already pairing up for spring, we'll see which one of these guys wins the girl's attention. Soon there will be ducklings everywhere.
So far I only saw mallards but the northern shovelers should be showing up in a week or so. Maybe I'll even see some ruddy ducks for a day or two if I'm lucky.
These guys showed up again just today. Their warning call is a sure sign of spring. These early red-winged black birds must be showing up to stake breeding territory before anyone else does.
I didn't see any of the females around, just two males beeping and chortling loudly. I'm sure they hate eachother already. Eventually all the reeds will be filled with their nests and casual walkers will be getting dive bombed and pecked in the head by them.
It was a nice clear day out and I was able to focus on the moon past the tree branches. Then I noticed some movement on the tree in the foreground.
It was a fluffy squirrel tail sticking out of a tree hollow. I wonder if they already have a litter going in there. Last year a raccoon claimed this hollow and I saw the mother dragging the babies down out of the tree by their scruffs. Squirrels must use it early on in spring.
That's all for now, hopefully we won't get anymore snows here and spring will be in full bloom next week.
