A high tech civilization of androids lives on a planet undisturbed.
But recently an invader has arrived with curvy forms that clash with the straight edges of the android civilization.
The high council reserved a special conference room to discuss what they should do with this strange lifeform that has hatched outside.
Some recommend using their particle accelerator beams to blast it into oblivion as they did the humans who invented them many millenia ago.
There is a small faction of androids who want life to return to the planet but they are generally hidden away underground with no real power.
As they debate what to do with the new lifeform it begins to evolve and use up more of the planet's resources.
Now it has grown larger and stronger, maybe even the particle accelerator weapon will have no effect on it.
They press the button but little do the androids know the lifeform's roots have already integrated into their systems.
Once the beam reached full power it caused a cascading power failure and the androids were left without their electrical lifeblood. Now the fungal organism is free to feed upon their machinery and convert it back into organic compounds.
