But its true purpose is to capture electricity and keep it in a perpetual state of flow.
It works perfectly for storing energy for use 100s of years into the future.
Now everything can be powered by electricity and tye plan is to harvest all sunlight as a future store of electricity.
The only flaw in this plan is the mobius strips tend to not let go of the electricity and they are indestructible.
Now that all electricity is trapped in the mobius strips the world has returned to hydrocarbons and burning whale blubber in lamps.
Meanwhile the mobius strips are collecting together and directing their electricity back to the sun.
The huge influx of extra electricity was enough to keep it burning for an extra 1000 years saving humanity in the process.
