Here are a few trees I found out on a walk this weekend for #treetuesday by @old-guy-photos
These really twisted trees always remind me of some kind of story where a strange elf lives in the tree and offers a faustian deal to someone in exchange for fullfilling their wishes.
Here's a panorama of the forest. Spring still hasn't fully taken hold yet but some greenery is starting to form.
The birds are starting to show up, I heard a knocking right next to my ear about head height on this old dead tree. A woodpecker made a perfectly round hole. I wish I was fast enough to get his head poking out.
Here's the little downy woodpecker that made the hole. I wish I had my zoom lens sorry about the cellphone zoom blur.
Further in the forest plenty of polypore shelf mushrooms were growing off the sides of the trees.
This tree was cut midway down and has a bunch of turkeytail fungi growing on it. So far no morel mushrooms are out yet but at least the trees are looking good in the sunlight. Happy #treetuesday
