Here's a spot I like to go walking at during summer sunsets. There are quite a few lakes and the sun makes nice silhouettes of the water birds as they come in for a landing at the lake.

I even found a whole tree of waxwings hunkering down for the night on a dead tree. Maybe one day I'll be out here again in the morning to see them in their full color in the sunlight.

Summer around here provides plenty of opportunities to get tree swallow pictures. They are quite tame and will pose out in the open on branches waiting for large insects to fly by. They don't seem too concerned about humans as they often nest in attics and other man-made structures.

There's always time for a camera testing sparrow. When I go out looking for bird shots I usually practice a few shots on the common house sparrows around here. This guy was framed nicely in the wild rosebushes with some rosehips.

Well it looks like half these random photos are of birds. I'll have to mix the rest of this post with other subject matter. Anyway this is a gila woodpecker in Arizona about to belt out its loud call. They are fairly common and are somewhat of a bully around bird feeders. They also aren't shy at all about pecking holes into your house.

Now for a fish tank break. In the middle is my oldest fish ever, this cory catfish is at least 7 years old and has survived different tanks. I try and get him other cory friends but they usually end up kicking the bucket after a few years.

This was last year's jumping spider winter pet. So far I haven't found another one to keep this year. She is about half grown in this photo, by the time spring rolled around she was finished growing before I let her go.

Look at this huge grub! This is from a soil exhibit at the Chicago Museum of Science. Its a fun place to visit at least once especially for entertaining kid relatives lol.

Now for a fall squirrel. Most of my photos usually feature a bird, squirrel or mushrooms. I always have time to get a shot of a squirrel eating while roaming around with the zoom lens.

Finally here is a charcoal picture my wife drew as a self portrait. She whipped this out pretty fast and spent most of the time trying to get the silver ball right.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
