The squirrels are out and about trying to get as fat as possible before winter hits.

I think someone gave him an almond, he better eat it fast before another squirrel sees him. They like to steal each other's food all the time.

This was the first shot I got of him. In the orange fall leaves he blends in pretty well but his loud chewing gave away his location.

He has a pretty good niche here for eating. Fortunately he was too busy enjoying the almond to allow me to get plenty of different angles.

Meanwhile at the lake even the vine leaves are starting to turn bright colors. I almost got a good chipmunk photo here but he ran off the rocks right as I clicked the photo. At least the leaves salvaged the image.

The lake was quite busy today. During fall lots of water birds gather here during their migration south. Most of these are just mallards but there are a few wood ducks in there as well.

The Canadian Geese are here year round even when the lake is frozen over. I wonder what they even eat in winter? They seem to survive well enough.

The sparrows were loaded up in these wild roses probably feasting on rose hips.

Its always nice when birds pose for you without being backlit by the sun. I wish all the rare birds would do this lol. Hopefully tomorrow there will be more migrating birds out. If not I can always rely on seeing sparrows posing for practice shooting.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
