I've been waiting for it to rain this spring so I can look for morels. In the meantime I've been searching for any mushrooms that might be out.
Here are some blue-gray turkey tails I found in a new spot.
Here are some strange little polypore crumbles on an old dead tree. I have seen these listed somewhere before but forgot the latin name.
Here is some Polyporales sensu lato a weird crust fungi with tiny pores.
I peeled a piece off an it was about the thickness of cardstock.
I found no edible mushrooms but I did find some edible wild onions, very spicy. I also took some home to plant in a flower pot to see if I can establish a colony of them.
Some spring flowers were growing under a tree. Just enough water is here for these guys but not enough for morels just yet.
I even walked around this hidden lake to see if the moisture would have been enough to bring the morels out. No luck.
I did manage to flush out a raccoon that ran and hid in this drainage tunnel. Poor guy was probably just getting a lake drink and a human chased him into this tunnel.
These were the only mushrooms I found this weekend that were edible. This is a German dish that uses crimini mushroom gravy over a bird's nest of fried potatoes with chicken in the middle of it. Very tasty if I ever find some boletes or chanterelles this dish would be amazing with those mushrooms.
Happy #mushroommonday
