The squirrels are getting cold in the weather and puffing up their winter coats. This one was hanging on the side of a tree in the sunrays to warm up. I rotated the photo so it would fit better as the thumbnail.
All the leaves are gone and there is gloomy cloudy weather with sunrays showing through. This pathway is a good place to find all sorts of wildlife. In winter I usually just see squirrels trying to warm up in the sun.
If you sit still and wait a while there will be numerous little eyes looking at you in the forest.
The chipmunks have all claimed their hollow logs for winter and probably have pounds of acorns stored in them. They can't resist a good sunray though to warm their heads in.
The only thing they have to worry about are the hawks flying around looking for lunch. These big red tails probably care more about rabbits than tiny chipmunks though.
This squirrel found a patch of still green grass to sun in. He better keep an eye out for the hawk.
Oh no, there's a hawk above me. Maybe if I sit still I will not be seen.
This one is looking extra fluffy in its winter coat. The strong cold wind was making it puff its fur out more than usual especially by the lake where the wind is colder from the water.
