I was able to get a quick hike in the woods and foud a few mushrooms for #fungifriday
Here's a nice pair of ufos. I know I've seen these back in Illinois but I can't quite remember their names.
It looks like there is a third one popping up behind the front two. I don't think these are poisonous but they probably aren't too tasty either.
The trail I hiked was nice and narrow with lots of trees and plants everywhere. Quite a jungle compared to the midwest trails I'm used to.
This one looks like a resinous polypore with a scientific name of Ischnoderma resinosum. Technically its edible but I suspect you would need to get to it when it is mostly white while its still soft and not woody like this.
I wonder if the woody version has any medicinal properties?
Look at this monster. The slugs in the Pacific Northwest are massive. I wonder if banana slugs are around here too?
Here's the start of a little fern.
Here is a false oyster. Probably a type of Crepidotus, much larger than the ones I find in the midwest.
If I get a chance I'll take more pictures of all the moss around here. Most of this stuff has antibacterial medicinal properties.
Here's another little UFO. It kind of has a little tint of purple. Maybe its a type of Cortinarius...
Looks like my hike has come to an end... I only brought one pair of shoes with me and don't feel like getting muddy before going back to work tomorrow. Maybe next time I can make a giant leap down to the lower section of the bridge lol.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
