Here is a hawk encounter at an old dairy farm that got turned into a forest preserve for this #featheredfriday by melinda010100@melinda010100

My wife noticed this guy sitting on top of the tractor barn's weather vane. Looks to be a young red-tailed hawk.

The farmer has quite the spirit animal as he chases the goose silhouette on his tractor. These weather vanes must be a favorite sitting spot for all kinds of birds.

As usual I tried sneaking closer and closer to get a better shot. Unfortunately all my hawk noises didn't work in getting the red-tail to look back at me.

This little house sparrow scared the hawk off its roosting spot. I'm sure the sparrow was defending the goose silhouette lol. I thought this was the last I would see of the hawk as it flew off far in the distance.

Later on when my wife had to feed the baby in the car I noticed another hawk or maybe the same one flying off in the distance. I whipped out the camera and barely caught this shot as it landed up in the tree.

I snuck up on it slowly. This time no sparrows were harassing it so I was able to sneak closer and closer.

Now I'm in a good position past the branches but the hawk is refusing to look back at me. Time for some hawk noises to get its attention.

After a few whistles and screeches it finally started looking back at me kind of annoyed.

Hey you over there you don't even sound like a red-tailed hawk, give it up already. The things we photographers do for a good photo lol.

I'm sure all the people walking at the park thought I was weird making hawk noises at a tree. They probably didn't even notice the hawk sitting there.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
