Here is a bit of bird drama by the lake for this #featheredfriday by 
I noticed a nice black-crowned night heron by the lake. I managed to get one shot off before a vicious bird entered the scene.
The red-winged blackbirds love this lake and are constantly attacking anything that comes near their nests.
I managed to catch the red-wing's aerial attack on the black-crowned night heron. It chased it around the lake a few times.
I was hoping to get a shot of the red-wing on its back pecking away at the night heron. Instead it was mostly just biting its wings. The poor nigh heron was distressed barking like a dog and had to fly off to a different lake. I think these herons can sometimes eat the red-wing chicks near the waters edge.
Here he is strutting around victorious. These guys are very brazen and will attack anything. They love to puff up their red wings to intimidate you.
I moved in for a shot of one on a different branch.
Then it started trying to attack me. I was able to catch a bit of the tail feathers with my zoom lens as it was flying over my head looking for a weak spot lol.
Here's a sad sight. I'm not sure what type of bird this was but I've seen goldfinches and cardinals nesting where this guy fell. Its very young I hope it wasn't pushed out of its nest by a copper headed cowbird baby.
The geese are still doing fine. Most of them almost look full grown. One of the six ended up dying and I saw it floating in the lake. I suspect it might have caught some sort of sickness. Still 5/6 is not a bad survival rate for geese.
Its a good year for the geese.
