Here is a typical Arizona sunset.
The dust in the atmosphere in Arizona always tends to create amazing looking sunsets.
The air itself here is also very dry so humidity doesn't block the light as the sun goes down and you get interesting spectrums of color, ranging form bright orange to dark purples.
The landscape is barren and stickery with gnarled mesquite trees creating interesting silhouettes against the bright colorful sky.
A flock of wigeons flew overhead while I was trying to get photos of the color textures in the sky.
Some of the clouds off to the side of the suns have some really interesting swirly textures.
My zoom lens was able to get in close on the colors. They sort of remind me of lava, liquid and flames combined.
Right in the center of the sunset you can get some really high contrast colors with a zoom lens.
The mountains in silhouette are called the Whetstones. They are quite rugged and below them are interesting caverns, with the most famous cavern called Kartchner Caverns.
That's all for the weekend, it would not be a good Arizona vacation without a good sunset like this. Arizona is a great place to escape the Northern winter as it is tolerably warm enough here during the winter. If you come here during summer it is way too hot to handle where the highs are sometimes 110F. In winter the highs are a perfect 70F.
That's all for now thanks for looking :-)
