Mall Rush Four Days Before Christmas

Wednesday Walk and Make Me Smile

It’s four days before Christmas day and we haven’t checked off everyone's wish list! We couldn’t order everything from Amazon online store, so we actually had to step out, shop at the mall, and wade through a sea of last-minute shoppers like us.

We went to the Brea Mall, just a short drive from home; parking was a bit of a challenge, even on a weekday. We circled for a bit until we found an empty space at the second level of the parking structure. We had to take the stairs to get to the ground level. Yes, exercise! Walking towards the entrance of the mall, we spotted a tree that was still in living fall color. Nice!

We entered Macy’s store, headed straight to the purse department for Mom’s gift. but no design was to our liking. We hopped from store to store..to more stores.. but still nada! Then we passed by a Michael Kors’ store and voila! - there was a cute purse on display, elegant enough for Mom’s use. The cost though? A whopping 400 dollars!!! At that price, we could take home three bags from the outlet store of the same Michael Kors. And it’s nearby! So we bailed out. We decided to stroll through the mall, window shop and just enjoy the rest of the afternoon.

There were lots of colorful Christmas decorations.

We saw Santa, still busy with the pictures and the kids wishes.

Then we ran into a display of an interesting-looking car.. ..or what looked like a half-car? It’s the three-wheeled Solo, the new electric vehicle of Canadian car maker Electra Meccanica. It costs a little less than a Honda Civic. Would you buy this car?

When we were about to head home, we saw this “Angel Tree Table". It had a sign that read” Pick a Wish, Give a Gift”. It was for children and families in shelters. My husband picked two names from the Angel Tree - a Mom and a 6-year old boy, (not related), and rushed to the stores to buy their Christmas gifts. We said a silent, fervent prayer for these families, that soon- very soon- their circumstances will change for the better!

We thank @tattoodjay for initiating the Wednesday Walk and Make Me Smile Challenge by @elizacheng.

Thank you too to our good friend @mers for inviting us to participate in this challenge.

Happy Holidays!
