Saludos.
ENGLISH
About a month ago, I made a post where I showed an unwelcome iguana that lives in my backyard. In that post I talked about how this little animal had eaten the shoots and flowers of a papaya plant, until it dried it completely, and how it was doing the same thing to the second papaya plant. You can read that previous post below and see a detail of how they eat the papaya flowers and do not let them become fruits:
Last Saturday I was contemplating a bunch of bananas lady fingers, whose plant was bent, thinking about whether to harvest it or not (in the end I harvested it), and I felt that someone was watching me. This made me uneasy, as I was alone, with one of my dogs in the backyard, and she was sniffing in another part of the plot. When I turned my head, I got a reptilian face, about 10 centimeters from my face, hahahaha, looking at me attentively, and oh surprise! It was another iguana, but this time a baby iguana, I would say almost a teenager. Its size is much smaller than the previous one, maybe half and its color is an intense green, more vivid, which allowed it to remain completely camouflaged among the leaves of the cherry tree without me being able to see it. You can see it in the photos below.
At home we have seriously thought about what to do with these two little animals, because we have four papaya plants to transplant, but most likely between Mr. Morrocoy's tribe and these two iguanas, who have exquisite tastes in their menus, they will eat the plants in no time. My husband and I remember that in the town square there is a caretaker whose pets are huge iguanas (about 20), who live in the trees of this public place. I have seen how he whistles at them and they come down very quickly from their aerial habitats and he feeds them and even has names for each one. We considered the possibility of capturing them and taking them there, but when my husband talked to the caretaker, he told him that this group of iguanas is already established, and most likely if they take these, they will be killed or chased away; so we decided to keep waiting to get another solution, because I really do not want to eat them (here, in my country iguanas are eaten stewed or fried), or kill them.
In the meantime, they continue to spend the time in this vegetable refuge that my lot has become. I hope they don't have a family, because then it will be a more serious problem.
Here I end my publication today, I hope it has been pleasant for everyone, and remember that it is always necessary to respect all beings that inhabit Mother Earth, but everything has its limit, so I will see how I move these two unwelcome iguanas from my plot. Greetings.
