Greetings, happy week Hive Collectors Community. In response to the invitation that mipiano@mipiano made for us to share our card collections and of Christmas decorations, today I brought the first part of the collection of old Christmas cards, which my aunt Chichita treasured, which I inherited.

My aunt was a very special person. She greatly valued those small gestures and attentions, such as Christmas cards, so she took care of them and kept them carefully. These objects were very popular in the last 20th century, in fact, cards were a constant on any special date, and Christmas and New Year's Eve festivities were no exception; so family, friends, companies, stores, gave away these small printed works of art. Just as my aunt appreciated being given cards, she also used to give them, and even when she saw one that was beautiful, she would buy it to keep or to give as a gift for another Christmas.

What amazes me about these cards is the quality, beauty and variety they have; Without a doubt, they are a reflection of how art was seen in each era. My aunt used to keep them in cardboard boxes, however, after she died, mom organized them in a photo album, so they would be better preserved. Today I brought a part of them, I have organized them into even photos, although some look uneven, I wanted to show the outside and inside of each card. So let's go on a trip back in time with this collection of Christmas cards.

Here I show you the old photo album where mom organized the Christmas cards.

This is a beautiful three-dimensional card, and when you open it, the figures come out. Reminds me of the paper dolls that existed years ago

This other one had interesting reliefs on the outside. It is an elongated card, a style very popular in the 70s

This one that I show you here is a little card, it is small, approximately 5 cm wide by 6 cm high. It's one of the little cards that you put in gifts

This other one is less formal, the character looks like a hippie from the 60s or 70s

alt

This is a beautiful card, which was given to my aunt, a family friend. If you notice, the text inside it is distributed like a Christmas tree, a very ingenious detail

This is an example of what I was telling you, regarding the importance that my aunt Chichita gave to Christmas cards. She had some personal cards Christmas, so she can give them to her family, friends and acquaintances. These two are really beautiful

This other one is also from my family. It was one of the cards that my grandfather gave to his friends (who was really my uncle, but I called him grandfather, he was my grandfather)

alt

alt

This other one is beautiful, it's like an oil painting

alt

alt

This one is also pretty, the figures have a particular aesthetic

alt

alt

This other one is also very unique. It has a figure that resembles a llanero playing a musical instrument known as “cuatro”, I suppose he was playing a Christmas song.

alt

And this other one shows a lit lantern in a Christmas atmosphere. It has small portions of glitter or frost on top. This detail was very common in the 70s

alt

This card is very cute, it has very bright colors, and it shows a beautiful scene of the holy family, although there is a girl in the background. This card was bought by my aunt Chichita to give as a gift later, or just to keep, it is blank

Here I end my post today, the first in this Christmas series, full of personal memories, as well as full of reflections and echoes of the aesthetics of previous decades. Hugs and Merry Christmas!
