Maybe I'm getting old, but my parents taught me that being polite was important. A simple 'Thank you', or 'No, thank you', ... just a couple of simple words that can make a world of difference.
'No, Thanks' Would Do The Trick
These last couple of weeks I've been confronted with the fact that politeness, which I've always taken for granted, isn't that common anymore.
No matter whether it is on SteemIt or in real life, people seem to have no problem with expressing gratitude when something is offered to them and they take you up on the offer.
But for some strange reason it seems hard for people to turn down something you offer. They'd rather ignore the offer, while a simple 'No, thanks' would be worth so much more.
Maybe I'm indeed that much older than I consider myself to be, and maybe that kind of politeness is a thing from the past. Nevertheless, I don't like to be ignored - I assume that goes for most people. Definitely not when all it would take would be 2 simple words to at least let me know someone is not interested in what I offered.
Expectations
I've worked hard to learn to live my life without expecting things from people. Apparently, I've failed.
Because taking a 'No, thanks' for granted, is still an expectation.
I think every single one of you knows I do a lot for other people, and I never ask for something in return.
Still, it pisses me off when a 'Thanks, but no thanks' is too much to ask for.
I guess I'm just in a bad mood today, and things annoy me a little more than they would on other days. I just had to get this off my chest, so please don't pay too much attention to it.
