“Welcome Home!”🤗
All are welcome to spend the night, at the Historical “John Friendly” Log cabin!😊
For Free!……………😇
Now before you try to book reservations, for this stunning 1891 cabin, you might want to take a closer first hand look!😮
This cabin sits high up on Sumas Mountain, just above the Famous “Gold Mine Trail”!
The 135 year old hand cut, and fitted, Douglas Fir logs have weathered well!😊
Just hiking to this cabin can be a challenge if you are not accustomed to hiking…………..
“Chat GPT tell us about the trail to the John Friendly cabin!”
“Silvertop……Outpost/Friendly Cabin, is actually a fairly substantial climb.
- The trailhead is about 355–360 feet elevation.
- The cabin is around 1,250 feet elevation.
- So the net vertical gain is roughly 890–900 feet.
- The cabin is reached at roughly 1.4 miles from the trailhead on one commonly described route.
That means you’re averaging roughly 600–650 feet of elevation gain per mile—enough to make it a real uphill hike, but nowhere near the brutal climb that continues above the cabin toward the Sumas Mountain ridge.”
This trail my friends is just the “Warm Up Act!”😇
After reaching the grassy meadow where the Log Cabin sits, the trail continues extremely steeply upwards towards the Summit!😅
Ahhh Silvertop can hear you now……….
We just want to spend the night in the log Cabin!
Well……If you are tough enough to reach this destination, you might be able to handle the dirt floor, and no insulation……. other than the massive logs!
Just be sure to open the door very slowly…………………..😳
The local Bear, and or Cougar population usually have First dibs on the accommodations Lol!😺
Till tomorrow…..Silvertop Mike 😊
