I'm posting this for a friend. His wife passed away in 2012. He thinks that she bought bitcoin back in 2010-11. She always handled all the transactions and banking. She did not leave any passwords or where she might've bought them from. The only thing he has would be an email address and her name as proof. I know this is a long shot but Is there any way to recover a wallet that you don't have any other info on?
Also what wallets would've been in use back then?
