Some things change you before you even see it happening. Healing isn’t loud. It’s slow and quiet and sometimes messy. This is me trying to describe what life feels like now that the hardest part is finally behind me.

Light on My Skin

The storm is finally behind me, and I’m still trying to figure out what life looks like now.
Some days I wake up and just sit there for a minute, letting my body catch up with my mind. Everything feels familiar but different at the same time. I guess that’s what happens when you go through something that shakes you all the way down.

IMG_2209.jpeg

There were nights when I held on by the smallest thread.
I don’t even know how I got through some of them.
And there were mornings when getting out of bed felt like a whole journey.
But somehow, even when I didn’t feel strong, something in me kept a tiny bit of light going. I didn’t see it then, but looking back, it was there.

Now the light hits my skin in a way that feels… honest.
Not dramatic. Not magical. Just real.
Warm in a way I didn’t realize I missed.
I’m moving through life with a heart that remembers what healing feels like.
It’s bittersweet — of course it is — but I’m still rising. Slowly. Quietly. In my own way.

IMG_2207.jpeg

I still notice the places where the shadows used to sit.
They don’t scare me anymore.
They’re just part of the story.
They taught me how to forgive myself, how to honor the parts of me that kept going even when everything felt heavy and unfair.

My scars show up every time I’m getting ready for the day. They’re big, and they carry so much of what I’ve lived through. And I’m still figuring out how to make peace with them.

I’m not the same person I was before all of this.
I don’t think I’m supposed to be.
Joy feels different now — deeper, slower, more intentional.
Peace finally has room to breathe without me chasing it.

IMG_2205.jpeg

The light is brighter these days.
I’m stepping forward with a soul that feels ready for whatever comes next.
Bittersweet, always. But still rising.
Still shining.
I walked through fire and made it out.
And this victory is mine.
