This is a cool coin but what makes it even better is that it will be a collectors item worth quite a bit more in time.1

maddogmike@maddogmike certainly knows what he is talking about!!!

I don't do same-design coins unless I stack them. So what reason could I have to get three coins of the same year with the same reverse design?

A set of coronation coins has been created by the Royal Mint to mark the coronation of Charles III. Three new reverse designs are part of the collection honoring Charles III's historic crowning. This design commemorative coin is the Britannica version.

In 1997, the Silver Britannia made its debut. Elizabeth II was the only monarch to appear on the coins before 2023. Charles III is now only the second monarch to appear on Britannia Series coins and the first to receive a Silver Coronation Britannia issue featuring a unique crowned bust.

The figure of Britannia is featured on the reverse of the 1 oz Silver Coronation Britannia Coins from 2023. Philip Nathan designed the feminine allegorical of Britannia. Her left hand rests on a Union Jack shield, and her right hand is holding an olive branch, while she is looking to the right, where she is holding a trident.

Coin Highlights:

  • Contains 1 oz of .999 fine Silver.
  • Limited mintage of 200,000.
  • Eligible for Precious Metals IRAs.
  • Obverse: The first crowned coinage portrait of His Majesty The King, created by British sculptor Martin Jennings, graces the obverse of each coin in the Coronation Bullion Coin Range and has received the monarch's personal approval.
  • Reverse: Features artwork by Philip Nathan that depicts the internationally recognized Britannia figure standing firm against a powerful wind. Her visage has symbolized Britain's strength and integrity on coinage since Roman times. The reverse includes a latent image, surface animation, tincture lines and micro text for added security.
  • Sovereign coin backed by the British government.

2023 is the year when three versions of the coin are minted.

The last Britannia with Elizabeth II's effigy on it was released by the Royal Mint in 2023. Following the limited production run of these coins, the effigy of Charles III was first featured on Britannia coins released in 2023. Then, once again, the Coronation Bullion Coin features the first crowned coinage picture of Charles III. Incidentally, this was made by British artist Martin Jennings4.
