Today I’m going to share a round that I picked up from a coin shop in Las Vegas during our meet up.
This series was supposed to be a ten round series. But it got shut down when the Elemetal Mint got taken down.
A quick history…
Jackson Precious Metals a long time silver refinery in Ohio was struggling after nearly 100 years in the business. They ended up selling in I believe 1990 to OPM (Ohio Precious Metals). The owner vowed to not cut jobs as this was a big concern to the community since OPM was already across the street from Jackson Precious Metals.
I’m not sure exactly what year OPM branched out as the Elemetal Mint. But they were buying precious metals on the black market illegally for lower prices. They ended up getting caught and now there is no longer any precious metals refineries in Ohio.
Elemetal Mint made a bunch of great round series for several bullion dealers. Including the Egyptian gods series from Provident Metals. Provident after several years has continued this series with a different mint producing them.
The round series that I am sharing today is the Privateer series. It’s a great series and this is my only one. Which I just picked up.
This round is called “The Storm”. And it’s really cool.
I got this one for a pretty good price considering what they typically sell for on the secondary market.
