Hainanese Roasted Chicken Rice (POBphotocontest New Round: FOOD)

Hi, everyone! Nice to meet you again at the POB photo contest hosted by @friendlymoose. This week's theme: food.

Lately I barely taking photos of food, so I just looking for my old food photos that I can submit here. I decided to post this one; Hainanese Roasted Chicken Rice.

Hainanese Roasted Chicken Rice is one of the menus that I ordered when I had dinner with my husband some times ago. The restaurant called Red Bean, located in Mangga Dua Square, Gunung Sahari, Jakarta. They serve Indonesian and Chinese food.

According to Wikipedia:

Hainanese chicken rice is a dish of poached chicken and seasoned rice, served with chili sauce and usually with cucumber garnishes. It was created by immigrants from Hainan in southern China and adapted from the Hainanese dish Wenchang chicken. It is considered one of the national dishes of Singapore and is most commonly associated with Singaporean cuisine. The dish is also seen throughout Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia and Malaysia where it is a culinary staple.

Originally, Hainanese rice was served with poached chicken, but then many variations have created, including Hainanese rice with grilled chicken like the one I ordered. Also, there are variations of names and ways of serving the dish in some countries. In Thailand, the dish is known as khao man gai (chicken oily rice), and it's named as Cơm Gà Hải Nam in Vietnam (Hai Nam chicken). In Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the dish called Hainan chicken rice. Specifically in Indonesia, we often call it "Nasi ayam Hainan".

The taste was excellent! The chicken and seasoned rice are very tasteful. No wonder it was listed as one of the "World's 50 best foods" by CNN in 2018 (Wikipedia).
