In this post, Iâll demystify motivation and give you the motivation tools that really work.
How to become (and stay) motivated:
Find a support system of like minded people
Whatever you are trying to do to accomplish your goals, chances are there are other people doing the same. One thing that you can do to boost your motivation is to find these people and use them as a source of help and encouragement.
Of course, it goes without saying you should also reciprocate by being helpful and encouraging yourself. If you look online and in your community, you can probably find others who are trying to accomplish the same goals. If a group exists, join it. If it doesnât, consider taking the steps required to create one.
Set goals
When you set a goal, you make a decision to act in a way that will help you achieve what you want. Goals give you a direction to focus on â one thatâs measurable and has an endpoint. This can help you to stay motivated.
Always spend some of your time learning something new
One of the great things about self improvement is that one action taken to improve yourself tends to boost your motivation, and increase your chances of successfully achieving your other goals. Learning new things is a great way to do this.
You can take online classes or sign up for education classes at your local community center. All that matters is that you are constantly learning something new and that you study effectively. You should never lose motivation when it comes to learning new things.
Find things that interest you within goals that donât.
Sometimes other people set goals or tasks for us that we donât find interesting or want to do. So, try and find something within that task that does motivate you. For example: âI hate maths, but itâs going to help me become a builder, which I want more than anything.â
Meditate and visualize
Many successful people give some of the credit for their accomplishments to the fact that they meditate. Why not join them? Meditation is easy to do, and it requires no special training or education to get started.
Simply find a quiet place, close your eyes, focus on breathing in slowly and breathing out slowly, and then visualize yourself successfully reaching your goals.
Become an âexpertâ in one area
There isnât a student who absolutely loves all subjects. All you need to do is focus a bit more on the area you love and get some serious attitude about it. Maybe you can start a blog associated to the area you love and become a self-appointed expert in it. Research deeper, become more involved and enjoy your devotion to the things that interest you.
However, this shouldnât drive you away from all other homework you get; in fact, it should help you become more tolerant of the topics that donât interest you that much. Think of the less favored topics as âsupporting bricksâ for your career path.
Donât be afraid of competition
You donât have to tame your competitive spirit. In fact, it can help you be a more diligent student and have fun while doing homework and making better achievements than anyone else in class. Being competitive doesnât mean that you have to become the classmate no one likes. You can team up with one or two friends and inspire each other to do better in all subjects. Healthy competition can be a very inspiring motivation, if you know how to approach it.
Make your goal public.
If you tell someone â or write down â your goal, youâve essentially made a promise to keep your word. Plot your progress. When youâre working towards something, it can be really motivating if you can see evidence that youâre making progress. Draw or create a visual representation of how youâre coming closer to achieving the goal youâve set yourself. Break up your goal. Start with easier tasks and work your way up to bigger challenges. Breaking up a task in your mind into achievable chunks helps build confidence.
Read motivational and inspirational books
SOURCE
If you want to stay motivated, read books that motivate and inspire you. These books could be inspirational biographies and autobiographies, self-help books, or even works of fiction that are uplifting to you.
Think about it. If you are like many people, you probably spend more than an hour each day watching television and surfing the internet. Why not dedicate 20 minutes each day to reading something that will keep you inspired?
Build a support team.
Having the right team in place to help you is crucial to your success. You will be amazed at what you and your team can accomplish when you are all motivated and working toward the same goal. It is worth the effort to put the right support system in place. Make a list of some winning people in your circle that you can partner with, exchange ideas with and who can help you get things done.
Conclusion:
Oftentimes we forget how far weâve come and the successes weâve already accomplished. Designate a token of achievement that you can carry with you to remind yourself that you are a winner. It doesnât matter if it is big or small. Go back and look at your trophies, certificates, a special note of congratulations or anything that will keep you motivated when you are facing tough life moments.
An infectious, positive attitude can shift your entire life. Infusing your mind with positive thoughts will cause you to produce more positive results in your life. Right now youâre getting as many opportunities as you think you can have. Youâre making just the amount of money you really believe you can. To break into making what youâve only dreamed of and wished for, you must start thinking, believing and speaking like youâre already worth that number! Purposefully infusing your life with a positive perspective will keep you motivated and eliminate all negative sources out of your life.
