Hinako remembered the red capsule painkillers Shu gave her earlier, so I used them alongside a bandage I found to recover. While navigating eerie shadows and unsettling ambient sounds toward the Shizuruya general store, I encountered a twisted, knife-wielding ghost. I managed to outrun the demon and break its line of sight.
Hinako was hurt badly, her vision was blurring from the pain. While Hinako was catching her breath, she suddenly remembered that Shu had given her some red capsule painkillers during their last conversation.
Taking the red capsules worked best to manage my condition, gradually taking the edge off the pain so I could move freely again.
Looking around the quiet streets, I noticed that the fog monster I had been dealing with earlier had completely vanished after I crossed over to this side of the road.
Scooping up a clean bandage I found resting along my path, I patched up my remaining wounds to get back into fighting shape.
Examining the surrounding buildings, Hinako realized she didn't recognize this specific section of town at all. I knew I needed to find my way back to Sakako and locate the path leading toward the Shizuruya general store, but the layout was completely disorienting.
Moving forward down the narrow alleyway, I froze as a dark shadow suddenly flickered across the wall ahead. The unnerving ambient audio swelled, sending a genuine chill down my spine.
I was honestly glad I was playing this game in broad daylight, because experiencing these terrifying sound design cues in the middle of the night would have had me completely on edge.
The screeching, metallic background noises in this place were almost scarier than the monsters themselves.
Calling out for Shu and Rinko by name, Hinako's voice echoed back through the quiet streets with no response, making it clear they weren't anywhere nearby. Suddenly, a plastic bucket was shoved across the pavement right in front of her feet, making both her and me jump.
Looking toward the source of the noise, I spotted what looked like a lifeless body slumped in the alley. To my horror, the form stood up, revealing itself to be a nightmare ghost clutching a rusted knife.
My blood ran cold taking in its mangled condition as its entire body was contorted at impossible angles and covered in deep, jagged cuts.
Knowing I couldn't stand my ground against the abomination, I decided to avoid its attacks and sprinted in the opposite direction. I was immensely relieved to find a clear exit route away from the threat, quickly noticing that the ghost was relatively slow and unable to match my running pace.
Moments later, the game notified me that I could drop out of active combat simply by breaking the enemy's line of sight.
