Starting a new game of AC Black Flag Resynced on story difficulty, I began as Edward Kenway aboard a pirate ship under heavy attack at Cape Bonavista. After destroying rival vessels, an Assassin killed our captain and blew up the ship. Edward was pushed into the water and he triggered a flashback of his past.
I launched a new game on story difficulty with default settings, eager to jump back into the world of Black Flag through Resynced. Excited to test out the expanded photo mode I had seen others use, I immediately opened the tool during the opening cinematic sequence.
The camera allowed me to navigate far from my character, detailing the storm-battered pirate ship, the raging ocean waves, and the crew preparing their weapons for incoming battle.
The campaign opened at Cape Bonavista in June 1715, placing me directly into a high-seas clash against rival ships. Taking the helm as Edward Kenway, I began commanding the crew and firing our broadside cannons into the surrounding enemy vessels.
Though navigating the ship controls felt slightly complicated at first, I managed to direct our firepower effectively from the cockpit view.
We sustained heavy incoming damage while trading cannon fire with multiple targets, gradually breaking down their hulls until we destroyed the remaining two enemy ships.
Just as the crew celebrated our victory, a mysterious Assassin leaped onto our deck and executed our captain.
Realizing Edward served as a pirate aboard a privateer ship, I watched the chaotic situation escalate as the Assassin kicked Edward off the main deck and into the churning sea.
Seconds later, a massive explosion tore through the vessel, destroying it completely and sending Edward plunging deep underwater.
While sinking beneath the waves, Edward experienced a vivid flashback to his former home alongside his partner, Caroline Scott. During their conversation, Caroline asked whether joining the privateers presented too much danger, suggesting Edward to sail with the King's Navy instead.
Edward dismissed the idea, explaining that naval service offered no path to real wealth. When Caroline insisted they did not need a fortune, Edward replied that he wanted a decent life with proper food and sturdy shelter.
He promised her he would only remain at sea with the privateers for a year or two at most.
With the memory fading, the flashback ended, returning Edward to his desperate struggle to survive beneath the surface of the ocean.
