I stepped out of the cave toward the mountain temple after Unuratu left to find her son. Passing villagers working the soil, I reached the grand cavern. I rappelled down into the ruins, navigated crumbling pathways across a broken bridge, and eliminated an armored guard.
I needed to enter the mountain temple. Unuratu had mentioned that she would go ahead to search for her son, leaving me to clear the remaining path. I made my way out of the dark cave, stepping into the open air as I set my course toward the mountain temple.
As I walked along the dusty paths, I noticed several local people working hard on the lands. They were carefully digging into the rich soil, likely planting seeds to secure food for their community.
The scenic view ahead was truly beautiful, stretching out far into the distance, and I could only hope that the path leading directly to the mountain temple would remain open and accessible for me.
As I traveled further along the narrow trail, it looked like I was getting closer to the cavernous mountain entrance. Lara communicated with Jonah to update him on our current location and progress.
Once I reached the immediate threshold of the mountain temple, my main goal was to find the inner stronghold. Seeing no easy path on the upper level, I had to rappel down into the lower area.
Once I reached the immediate threshold of the mountain temple, my main goal was to find the inner stronghold. I paused for a moment to take in the sheer scale of the massive structure that stood before me. Seeing no easy path on the upper level, I had to rappel down into the lower area.
There was every reason to suspect hostile forces like Trinity or hostile local factions might be lurking in the shadows. Lara made sure her gear was fully prepped in case anything goes sideways without notice.
I had not anticipated the mountain temple being such a huge cavern. The vast subterranean space looked almost like a forgotten, ancient lost city hidden deep beneath the earth. I stopped to look around, trying to figure out where I needed to go next.
All around the area, I noticed skeletal figures bound in static positions. At first glance, they looked like real remains of people who had perished decades ago, but looking closer at their identical poses, I began to view them more like carved statues set up as warnings.
I rushed across a series of temporary ledges, barely making it as the fragile platform I was using to move began to collapse beneath my weight. I managed to catch myself just in time, grabbing a solid handhold to keep from falling into the pit below.
Moving forward, I saw that a bridge leading to the far side of the chamber had completely collapsed long ago. That meant I had to find an alternative way across the massive chasm.
Once I recovered my balance and pulled myself up, I spotted one of the enemy guards patrolling nearby. I tried to quietly take him down with a headshot using my bow, but the arrow failed to drop him immediately because he was wearing a heavy helmet.
The guard quickly realized he was under attack and charged forward to attack me. I had to instantly switch to close-quarters combat to take him down before he could alert any other guards in the area.
