En el post anterior dedicado a esta serie de tutoriales sobre Calibre, estrechamente ligados a los libros y a la literatura en general, razón por la cuál elegí de publicarlos en esta Comunidad y no en otra Comunidad tecnológica, recibí en un comentario el aliciente del lector 
Agradezco a él y a los restantes comentarios que valoran este magnífico software, gratuito y open source, indispensable para todos aquellos #literatos que amamos la lectura.
Los ebooks son un medio económico para continuar leyendo a un costo muy bajo y, en muchos casos, directamente gratis. Por ese motivo una herramienta como Calibre es extremadamente útil.
Creada por un fanático de la lectura, Kovid Goyal que comienza a trabajar en él desde Linux (aunque hoy está disponible para todos los sistemas operativos) cuando Sony decide lanzar al mercado el segundo lector de e-book llamado Sony PRS-500 -el primero había sido el Sony Libriè- nos ha simplificado la vida a muchos usuarios. A modo de agradecimiento a su autor y a la comunidad de voluntarios que lo sostiene, hoy publico la segunda parte de esta serie de tutoriales dedicada a todos los medios que tenemos para agregar un libro, en forma simple o múltiple, desde un simple archivo a todos los archivos que contenga una carpeta, e incluso a la posibilidad de "reservar" un espacio para incluir en el mismo libros futuros.
Calibre (en realidad el nombre se escribe con minúscula y no con mayúscula) nos permite bien ocho modos distintos de agregar libros a nuestra biblioteca, más una funcion adicional para controlar y configurar las adicciones.
Voy a mostrarles una por una con una pequeña explicacion en cada caso y con capturas de pantallas obtenidas desde mi PC.
Con esta función podemos agregar los libros en forma individual seleccionándolos desde nuestro dispositivo directamente haciendo clic en el botoón con el sigono "+" de la Barra de Instrumentos en la parte superior de la pantalla o desde la primera pestaña que se nos presenta en el men desplegable apenas hacemos clic en la flecha dirigida hacia abajo que se encuentra al costado.
Como vemos en la última imagen el libro ha sido incorporado a nuestra biblioteca de Calibre. La biblioteca de Calibre tiene un recorrido predefinido pero nosotros podemos cmabiarlo a voluntad.
En mi caso como en mas de una oportunidad he tenido problemas con el PC y s eme han borrado archivos he particionado el disco duro en dos partes: el disco C donde esta el sistema operativo y los programas y el disco D donde guardo todos los archivos, post y contenido de diversa indole.
Por razones de seguridad he cambiado el directorio original de Calibre y lo he pasado al Disco D. Es muy facil, es suficiente ir al menu principal en la barra de instrumentos y seleccionar el icono Biblioteca Calibre desde donde podemos elegir la nueva destinacion para todos nuestros eBooks.
Esta decisión de cambiar directorio no está librada al azar. Todos los archivos que esten en el disco C si nos vemos obligados a formatear el PC por cualuier problema, irremediablemente se pierden. Mientras que todo lo que hayamos guardado en otra particion, por ejemplo el Disco D, se salva sin problemas ya que no es afectado por la cancelacion del sistema operativo, es un archivo mas.
En esta funcion ya Calibre comienza a mostrar lo mejor de si mismo, ya que nos permite incorporar libros individualmente o grupalmente.
Pero para que esto no quede en simple teoría se los demuestro en la práctica desde mi PC.
En el primer he seleccionado al azar uno de los tantos libros que he descargado gratuitamente, en este caso un libro dedicado a las técnicas del Bonsái, otra de mis pasiones.
Lo he seleccionado desde un directorio en mi PC y como pueden ver se ha descargado sin problemas y agregado a la biblioteca de Calibre que, como veremos después, se puede organizar basándonos en una gran cantidad de filtros. Pero, por ahora, dediquémonos a aprender como agregar los e-books.
Pero también podemos agregar los e-books en forma colectiva o grupal.
En este caso he seleccionado una carpeta llamada "Política" en la cuál he descargado algunos libros. Siempre tengo la costumbre de ir organizando los libros en mi PC a medida que los voy descargando a través del clásico sistema de carpetas. No es indispensable para Calibre, pero facilita mucho la tarea sucesiva de organizar nuestra biblioteca digital.
Como pueden ver, esta carpeta tiene 3 libros y han sido descargados todos correctamente sin ningún problema. Incluso el programa al iniciar la incorporación de los libros nos advierte sobre la cantidad.
Como pueden ver en los libros descargados hay uno con la portada y hay otros dos sin ella, ya que se trata de .pdf.
En sucesivos tutoriales veremos como podemos crear para estos libros una carátula personalizada con cualquier imagen como si fuera la portada en los libros tradicionales que estamos habituados a ver. El aspecto gráfico será sin dudas mucho más elegante.
Muchas veces nos encontramos en Internet con archivos en formatos .zip o .rar comprimidos para ahorrar espacio. Con Calibri no es necesario descomprimirlos para abrirlos y seleccionar los archivos que hay dentro. Lo hace el mismo programa en automático. Veamos como. También en este caso el sistema nos permite incorporar los libros de a uno o en forma grupal, ya que hay archivos "zipados" que contienen a su vez varios archivos, en este caso libros.
El sistema es bastante similar al de los directorios o subdirectorios desde donde descargábamos los libros, solo que en este caso son archivos comprimidos que pueden contener uno o más libros.
He seleccionado libros de literatura española y de criptomonedas, ya que estamos en #HIVE para ejemplificar lo mencionado anteriormente. También en este caso podemos personalizar la tapa o carátula de cada uno como veremos más adelante.
Esta es sin lugar a dudas una de las peculiaridades más destacadas de Calibre, ya que nos permite crear una voz de registro en blanco (podemos ponerle un título por ejemplo) y dejarla "reservada" para incluir en ella a futuro un libro que todavía no hemos descargado.
Supongamos que estamos organizando una biblioteca digital con un código o índice secuencial numérico o alfanumérico y queremos dejar reservado un lugar, pero a su vez queremos seguir descargando libros. Simplemente debemos rellenar manualmente la información de un libro que aún no tenemos en la biblioteca, pero que planeamos descargar.
ISBN ( International Standard Book Number) es un identificador único o normalizador internacional para todos los libros, diarios y revistas y sirve para identificar todos los datos del libro como título, editorial, tirada, extensión, materia o género literario, país de origen o idioma de origen, traductor, etc.
Incluso el programa nos da la opción de descargar solo los metadatos, la portada, ambos o incluso configurarla.
En este caso, seleccioné al azar un Ensayo (en italiano) sobre la inmortal obra de Miguel Cervantes: Don Quijote de la Mancha.
Tenemos que estar atentos si queremos descargar códigos ISBN de libros con derechos de autor reservados (por ejemplo bestsellers) porque el programa los dará como error.
En este caso no agregamos libros, sino que añadimos o actualizamos los archivos asociados con un libro existente en la biblioteca de Calibre.
En este caso lo hacemos con un libro de Jorge Luis Borges.
En este caso podemos incorporar archivos en formatos AZW3, DOCX, EPUB y TEXT
En cada caso particular una ventana emergente nos advertirá del cambio antes de confirmarlo.
Esta última función nos permite controlar y configurar determinados parámetros, ya sea en forma manual o automática, crear reglas para filtrar etiquetas y muchas opciones más.
Espero no haberlos cansado con tantas imágenes, pero creo que es el mejor modo para entender el funcionamiento de esta fantástica herramienta para ir creando nuestra propia biblioteca digital.

Ebooks are an economical way to continue reading at a very low cost and, in many cases, directly for free. That's why a tool like Calibre is extremely useful.
Created by a reading fanatic, Kovid Goyal, who started working on it from Linux (although today it is available for all operating systems) when Sony decided to launch the second e-book reader called Sony PRS-500 -the first was Sony Libriè- it has simplified life for many users. As a way of thanking its author and the community of volunteers who support it, today I publish the second part of this series of tutorials dedicated to all the ways we have to add a book, in single or multiple form, from a single file to all the files contained in a folder, and even to the possibility of "reserving" a space to include future books in it.
Calibre (actually the name is written with lower case and not with capital letter) allows us eight different ways to add books to our library, plus an additional function to control and configure the additions.
I am going to show you one by one with a small explanation in each case and with screenshots obtained from my PC.
With this function we can add books individually by selecting them from our device directly by clicking on the "+" button in the Toolbar at the top of the screen or from the first tab that appears in the drop-down menu as soon as we click on the down arrow next to it.
As we can see in the last image the book has been added to our Calibre library. The Calibre library has a predefined path but we can change it at will.
In my case as in more than one occasion I have had problems with the PC and files have been deleted I have partitioned the hard disk in two parts: disk C where is the operating system and programs and disk D where I keep all the files, post and content of various kinds.
For security reasons I have changed the original Calibre directory and moved it to disk D. It's very easy, just go to the main menu in the toolbar and select the Calibre Library icon from where we can choose the new destination for all our eBooks.
This decision to change directory is not left to chance. All the files that are on disk C if we are forced to format the PC for any problem, will be irretrievably lost. While everything that we have saved in another partition, for example Disk D, is saved without problems since it is not affected by the cancellation of the operating system, it is one more file.
In this function Calibre already begins to show the best of itself, since it allows us to incorporate books individually or grouped.
But so that this does not remain in simple theory I demonstrate them in practice from my PC.
In the first one I have selected at random one of the many books that I have downloaded for free, in this case a book dedicated to the techniques of the Bonsai, another of my passions.
I have selected it from a directory on my PC and as you can see it has been downloaded without problems and added to the Calibre library which, as we will see later, can be organized based on a large number of filters. But, for now, let's get down to learning how to add the e-books.
But we can also add e-books collectively or in a group.
In this case I have selected a folder called "Politics" in which I have downloaded some books. I always have the habit of organizing the books in my PC as I download them through the classic folder system. It is not indispensable for Calibre, but it makes the successive task of organizing our digital library much easier.
As you can see, this folder has 3 books and they have all been downloaded correctly without any problem. Even the program warns us about the quantity when it starts adding the books.
As you can see in the downloaded books there is one with the cover and there are two others without it, since they are .pdf.
In successive tutorials we will see how we can create for these books a customized cover with any image as if it were the cover in the traditional books that we are used to see. The graphical aspect will be undoubtedly much more elegant.
Many times we find on the Internet files in .zip or .rar format compressed to save space. With Calibri it is not necessary to decompress them to open them and select the files inside. The program does it automatically. Let's see how. Also in this case the system allows us to incorporate the books one by one or in a group, since there are "zipped" files that contain several files, in this case books.
The system is quite similar to that of the directories or subdirectories from where we downloaded the books, only that in this case they are compressed files that can contain one or more books.
I have selected books of Spanish literature and cryptocurrencies, since we are in #HIVE to exemplify the above mentioned. Also in this case we can customize the cover or cover of each one as we will see later.
This is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding peculiarities of Calibre, since it allows us to create a blank record voice (we can give it a title for example) and leave it "reserved" to include in it in the future a book that we have not yet downloaded.
Let's suppose we are organizing a digital library with a sequential numeric or alphanumeric code or index and we want to reserve a place, but at the same time we want to continue downloading books. We simply need to manually fill in the information for a book that we do not yet have in the library, but plan to download.
ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is a unique identifier or international standard for all books, newspapers and magazines and is used to identify all book data such as title, publisher, print run, length, subject or literary genre, country of origin or language of origin, translator, etc.
The program even gives us the option to download only the metadata, the cover, both or even configure it.
In this case, I randomly selected an Essay (in Italian) on the immortal work of Miguel Cervantes: Don Quixote de la Mancha.
We have to be careful if we want to download ISBN codes of copyrighted books (e.g. bestsellers) because the program will give them as an error.
In this case we do not add books, but add or update the files associated with an existing book in the Calibre library.
In this case we do it with a book by Jorge Luis Borges.
In this case we can add files in AZW3, DOCX, EPUB and TEXT formats.
In each particular case a popup window will warn us of the change before confirming it.
This last function allows us to control and configure certain parameters, either manually or automatically, create rules to filter tags and many more options.
I hope I have not tired you with so many images, but I think it is the best way to understand the operation of this fantastic tool to create our own digital library.
