Last Sunday, I went to downtown to purchase ticket of going back home. I am surprised of the huge increase of the fare. Well, it is not really a surprise because of unending increase of petroleum products. Due to continues increase of petroleum products, it is expected that fares of the shipping lines will also increase. Right now, it increases 15.39% from their last price.
Everytime I go home, I choose to ride Roble Shipping at night because the ship is much cheaper. I usually purchase the economy accomodation as it is the cheapest accomodation with the deck. The fare before pandemic was less than PHP 500.00. When petroleum products started increasing, the fare I paid from my last trip was PHP 520.00 while now it is already PHP 600.00 starting 1st July this year.
I feel so sad knowing it. If I am not mistaken during my first time of coming here in Cebu the fare was more or less PHP 300.00 but now it becomes doubled due to high inflation. It is the fact that affects everyone especially the low income persons and family or to those who don't have income at all.
It is now expensive of going back home. Even though the fare increases, I still have to go back home no matter what. This evening I will be sailing again to be home and be present on my nephew's birthday. He is expecting me to be home. So, I have to make it and be home. 🥰
