The fact that I'm born in a country doesn't imply that my whole life would be spent there, especially when everything that happens in one's home country doesn't seem to favor it's citizens. Corruption and greed has eaten the entire system from its grassroot to the top officials and everyone relying on this system suffers. I love my country Nigeria, because, at the end of everything, I will still run back here for shelter, but then, my children and I also deserve a better life. I intend to travel out to have this better life that I desire. Most people who stayed back to fight for the betterment of this country only lived their entire life in misery, in tears they watched how the country crumbled the most.
When my right as a citizen is being denied, what should I stay back to fight for?When the future of the youths in the country is of no concern for the government, why should I endure discomfort when there are better opportunities outside. Graduates remain unemployed, every means through which youths are making a living is being frustrated, the old keeps ruling and looting all the resources that should have been used for the country's good, to what essence should I stay back? Taking opportunities outside that promises an individual a better future seems like the best at a time like this.
Some of the basic needs of a man are food and security. Unfortunately, as Nigerians, we are still battling with the basic needs. When these needs are not met, how can we achieve the other needs on the hierarchy? Our lands are blessed with natural resources, our souls are fertile, but then we still live as mediocre, a country that was once known as the giant of Africa has fallen and lost its pride. There's still hope for us, there's still hope for Nigeria if we would come to the understanding that we are one and every life matters. We would rise again if we stand united and our government understands that leadership is servanthood and not autocracy.
