That day was everything that a curious mix of fun and pleasant can achieve.

During my second visit to this province where I currently live, Ciego de Ávila, my husband took me for a walk—literally! A whole walk through one of the most beautiful places I have seen here, La Turbina.

Not long ago, I learned from my husband that its name comes from a story that begins with a flooded quarry. In one of his posts, he talks about that interesting fact and other parts of its history. In short, the name "La Turbina" came from the steam pumping machinery that was installed to try to extract the water that flooded an old ballast quarry (stone used in the construction of the railway). Interesting, right?

Since people kept saying "let's go to La Turbina," it ended up being its name hahaha. Now it is a beautiful recreational site and even a playground for children with many installed devices for their fun.

For me, it was great to go that day. My husband warned me that we would walk a lot, but I was delighted just to be able to see other beautiful places.

What fascinated me the most were the iron sculptures—animals made from recycled scrap, garbage turned into a detailed and captivating work of art. There are also those airplane restaurants. I have never been inside, but people have told me about them; they say they even cook fish from La Turbina itself.

I felt fascinated during the tour. We sat down to rest from time to time and kept taking photos of everything. I remember when I noticed that mysterious path leading to a cave with a fence at the entrance; it caught my attention a lot, and my husband told me it was another restaurant in the area.

And well, I cannot mention restaurants without showing this beauty over the lake, and of course, us looking great taking photos in front of it too 😂😎.

Sometimes, with his jokes, my husband made me angry just to take unexpected photos of me showing those funny faces hahaha. But it was a very welcome walk. My camera enjoyed it, and I certainly enjoyed it much more. I still have to take another tour to capture its most recent renovations, but I will leave that for another occasion.
