Eating Out @ Hungry Don

Introduction

I went out today for a meeting that was supposed to start at 3 but some people came late so it was delayed a bit since we needed quorum for the meeting. The meeting finished near 7pm. When it was over, I had to figure out what I wanted to eat so I walked down the block and came across this restaurant called Hungry Don.

Hungry Don

Hungry Don is a Japanese restaurant in Malaysia that has been around for about a year but this is my first time trying it. They have a lot of popular Japanese food like sashimi, donburi, ramen and udon. Below you can see that they have a decent rating on google reviews so I had to give it a try.

Ambience

There weren't a lot of people in the restaurant at the time I was there. I managed to take some photos of the inside. You can see that it's well decorated. I liked the painting and other decor on their walls. The place gave a warm and cozy vibe. I feel one improvement they could do is to play some Japanese music to help improve the ambience.

Food

I ordered a salmon sashimi don with extra salmon sashimi and cold filtered water. The salmon sashimi don came with miso soup and a heart-shaped tamago. You can refer to the image below with all the food I ate. It didn't seem like a lot but I ended up full after finishing everything.

Concluding Thoughts

I ate alone so I paid for this. It came out to RM39 which is around $8 which isn't bad considering I got an add-on of sushi for RM8 if not it would've only been RM31. The prices at Hungry Don are more reasonably priced than other Japanese restaurants and I think for the quality and portion it was worth it. If you are in Malaysia, I recommend this place if you're looking for a lower end Japanese restaurant to eat at. If you have a bigger budget, then this probably wouldn't be the best choice as you could get higher quality and better service. I think one thing lacking was the attentiveness of the employees there and as mentioned before to play some music. Overall though, I would still come back and eat again. The food was good and for the price it was worth it.

Thank you for reading and the support. Please do share your eating out moments in the eating out community! Hoping to grow this community.
