A long day of scape harvesting.
It snaps of well if you get the stem just above the last leaf. Give it a sharp turn to brake it of straight across the stem. My hand is a bit high in this photo. you what to 1/2 to 3/4 closer to the top leaf.
If are using a knife to cut the stem make sure the cut is 90deg to the stem the sharper the angle the sharper the spear point you create on drying.
They are great in a stir fry and other joys.
Our scapes go to Gleaners to by dried and used as a seasoning in their soup mixes.
After a hot day in the sun it was great to sit down with a pint .
