I don't need to dress so formally for work, but I feel it improves my mood somewhat.
It's also implies that I can return to being my true self again and find the humour while at work.
Yesterday afternoon I had a six hour shift working at the Space Theatre working for Ticketek, largely reprinting tickets that people had already purchased and directing people to the doors right in front of them.
But it also gives me a chance to be funny and let people laugh at the situation at times. People forget tickets or sometimes they don't get the emails with the tickets so my job is to check their accounts and reprint the tickets or write out a voucher if the printers fail.
The printers fail often and yesterday one was working but for some reason halfway through the shift it decided not to talk to the computer any more.
My non techy supervisor started pulling out cables left and right! I had to hold my tongue, but at the same time I couldn't figure out what had gone wrong either.
I got to tell her what I had been up to since the last time we had a shift together and the crazy people we have to deal with. The soccer crowd is generally nuts and the wealthier theatre crowd are entitled babies.
As a general rule, don't disable the paywave chip on your credit cards (and disassociate with anyone who tells you to do this) and print out the tickets either at home or take a screenshot of the barcode / QR code for easy scanning.
Stop hamstringing yourself!
I have a few ideas of what I need to do in terms of training and life goals and I have already started buying a few pieces of technology that have helped me to create videos with better audio quality, which is great.
I still need to be somewhat frugal and decisive as to how I spend my money, but for now I am maintaining my head above water, so to speak.
There's plenty of paid work coming up over the next few weeks, which always helps too.
One of my goals is to raise my profile locally so that at least there's some name recognition when i apply for positions.
Speaking of which, on Friday I went to the Intercultural Business and Employment Expo held at a local library.
There were different job providers and companies that specialise in helping people to start their own business. I collected a whole heap of paperwork and things to go through. I avoided the Government funded ones as they'd require me to be on welfare to access them.
I was given a few email addresses and flyers with QR codes to follow up on too.
So there's hope for me yet.
