Post Easter Update

I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter break. Mine was pretty good, for the most part.

Right now I am sitting at the Pho Linh, my favourite Vietnamese restaurant eating their Combination Bún Bowl as I type this.

altCombination Bún Bowl

Since before Easter, I've been trying to consolidate my superannuation.

I had discovered that one of the companies had merged with another one but hadn't sent me the "welcome pack" email to transition the original account across. This should have been easy to resolve.

I rang them up and they started giving me the run around and that I needed to talk to the tax department.
So, I'll ring them up again tomorrow and try to find out what information I need from the tax department.

On March 4th 2024 I had cancelled the insurance on one of the superannuation accounts. They sent me a letter saying that from March 6th 2024 the insurance had been stopped. It was great to see my superannuation account increase over the last few weeks using an app / service called Ubank.

I discovered, to my horror, that they'd started charging insurance again on March 29th 2024, along with processing fees and taxes.

I rang them up and they claimed it was residual charges for the month of March, but I call BS on that becausr I was put on hold for a few minutes while the person I was speaking to was scrambling to speak to his supervisor.

You can see for yourself below:

So far I haven't been impressed with the antics of these companies. It really does pay to monitor your FIAT accounts like you would Hive Engine, which I watch like a hawk.

This isn’t financial advice, and you do need insurance. I’ll reinstate it when I am earning more money on a regular basis.

I also need to ring maintenance and get my toilet fixed and my taps updated like the plumber mentioned last time he was here.

My social anxiety is such that I need to have my home spotless before I even ring!

And asking for help, or dealing with these companies is not something I am particularly comfortable with, but it’s the price I have pay for being an adult and trying to get things done.

Aside for getting my super sorted out, I need to find full time permanent work. I don’t want my shifts to be reduced or cancelled any more and financially I am going backwards.

I really don’t want to go back on welfare, but there’s a 3 month waiting list so Ibhave to give serious consideration to putting something in place before then.

For now, I am applying for anything and everything workwise and saying “Yes!” to everything that’s being offered and there are some really horrible jobs out there.

Today I went for a longish walk. I want to maintain my fitness regardless of what is going on.

I even went to Aldi to look around and compare prices. They are somewhat cheaper with a lot of items and even found a webcam for under AU$20. It’s an older model, I don’t need it, but Big W would charge at least AU$100 for it still. They make good microphones for podcasting.

I’m still reading finance books, most of which is redundant and outdated information but there are some gems amongst the generalised advice.

For now, I need to keep laughing. I have a stand up comedy gig on May 7th 2024 and I need to write some new jokes.

altYou have to laugh, regardless…

Thank you for reading.

Until next time,
