Good Friday
In Australia, and many places around the world, Good Friday is a part of the Easter Tradition.
It's typically a public / bank holiday for many people, one that I promptly forgot all about when I went to go shopping for Easter eggs!
Luckily a local Fish and Chip Shop was still open.
Easter Long Weekend
I think Easter, as a religious tradition, is well known enough to the point where I don't need to recap it here.
The tradition of long weekends, however, is something that Australians revere more than any particular religion or idealology. I say this somewhat tongue-in-cheek though.
The long weekend goes from Good Friday to Easter Monday, with most people returning to work on the Tuesday afterwards.
The reason for eating fish on Good Friday comes from a Bible passage where St. Paul made a rule that Christians shouldn't eat meat on Fridays. Every Friday.
This was substituted for fish, and done once a year at Easter I guess out of laziness more than anything else. Lol.
