July Update

alt

It's Friday night when I started typing this and I was sitting at my computer watching episode 6 of a show called "Silo" while I wait for a plumber to fix my dripping showerhead.

.

Because maintenace is through the Housing Trust it could be 24 hours before anyone turns up, if they turn up. It's an easy job and therefore of low priority and lower paying I guess.

(Update: no one turned up!)
(Update 2: I binged all of Silo and it's brilliant!!)

I also had a Housing Trust inspection on Tuesday. These things are cause of anxiety, where the state of the property is judged by a Housing Manager.

The newly dripping tap didn't help matters, but she didn't hear or see it because I flipped the showerhead so that it held the water for longer. I had timed it to about 20 minutes.

I distracted her by mentioning that the unit next door to mine had been broken into and the back door handle needed replacing.

I had also placed my expensive bike in the backyard because she needed to be able to walk through a very small hallway.

On Wednesday, I had an early start at a job picking up square carpet tiles that only needed 6 people to do. 12 people turned up. This meant that the job was done by 12pm. Some of the other guys stole boxes of teabags and wanted me to take some too. I flat out refused given that it's theft and told them so.

"Buy the other guys are doing it..." said one guy.
"If they all jumped off a bridge would you do that too?" I felt like saying. Stealing from a client results in less work, but these clowns just cannot see that.

I came home to grab my birth certificate, the whole time worried about putting my bike inside in case it got stolen by the junkies who visit the drug den a few units over 24/7 with their own bikes and backpacks.

I raced to my bedroom window and pulled aside the curtains to see that while my bike was still there, the back gate was wide open!.

This is because maintenance people had come to repair the unit next door and opened my gate by mistake. I think my next purchase will be a padlock.

After closing the gate and bringing my bike inside, I took my birth certificate back into the city as proof of ID for the accreditation needed to work during the FIFA Women's World Cup.

It was getting close to dinner time and I looked along Port Rd for a food place and walked into a Dominos pizza place and notice they had mini pizzas for AU$6 each.

I ordered a Mini Supreme and it was ready 10 minutes later.

I took a few photos at some of the local decorations. The main photo above is a celebration of Indigenous Australian Culture.

Below is a local pun-based coffee shop that always gives everyone a chuckle. It's phonetic. I had to get a photo so that you could get a laugh too.

Before I started typing this, I came home to see lights of stationary emergency vehicles flashing; police ambulance and fire blocking traffick on the main road.

I walked past the scene to see ambulance staff holding up a privacy screen while others attended to my drug den running neighbour. He was alive and covering his mouth to stifle his occasional cries of pain.

Parts of his Harley Davison motorcycle were strewn across the road and it appeared that he must have been hit by a car. A female police officer is consoling some other women and young girls who were witnesses to the event and were crying.

Tonight for the first time in a long time the area is quiet. My guess is that my neighbour is recovering in hospital and his clients have gone to find another dealer.

I don't wish ill on anyone, however it certainly shows that you can have a lot of peace in your life when you stop attracting drama.

That's all for this particular post.
Thank you for reading.
