I Was 200m Away From Robbie Williams!
It's been a while since my last post and the reason for that is that I have been rather busy of late.
I've been applying for every possible shift or job that I possibly can. So far it's going well. I haven't worked every day, but it's been often enough that I am at least covering rent and a few bills. I will need to cut my expenses right back.
Anyway, things are starting to move forward and I am slowly filling my days out. The tail end of November has been busy, and I have just completed a Barista course today as I type this. This should lead to more work.
One of the jobs I've been doing was scrubbing the dried fecal matter out from wooden slatted sheep pens.
The mask is absolutely necessary as you can see by this side by side comparison.
Straight after this I needed to catch a train into Adelaide and wash as much of the sheep crap off as possible in a public restroom, use deoderant and get changed into my corporate hospitality gear for a function.
Thankfully this particular shift meant sitting down and greeting guests rather than moving around. Later in the night I did move around collecting glasses, reporting floor spills and washing up the glasses.
I even met former Premier Stephen Marshall. I don't recommend it as he's quite pretentious and the wait staff weren't particularly impressed by his antics.
The VAILO 500
The VAILO 500 is a supercar race held in Adelaide every year around this time, however it has different sponsors. VAILO has been the primary sponsor of the race for the last two years.
Because I was working, I didn't have much time to take photos but I did take a few and even filmed one of their helicopters taking off.

Initially I'd been given 4 days work, but the labour hire company didn't want to pay me overtime so they changed it so I was doing hospitality rather than being on of the ground crew.
I then used an app to fill in work gaps. They really didn't like that, but screw them. My rent comes first.
Robbie Williams
Robbie Williams
One of the benefits of working in hospitality is getting paid to attend not only car races, but concerts and various other events.
At the VAILO 500, I got to hear Robbie Williams perform his hit songs to a large crowd of people from
200m away. He was pretty good and told the story of his success and the struggles along the way while I was making sure there was enough ice on the cans of alcoholic drinks.
It was a good night and I am hoping to be paid rather handsomely for working all day at Sunday rates.
However, I do have to be careful as work tends to dry up in January and February.
As always, I'm always looking to network and see what future work options are available.
I've also just completed a barista course and I have enrolled in another course which should lead to more work. I'll discuss them in a future post.
Until next time,
Thanks for reading.
