Growing Tomatoes

I don't consider myself a gardener, or at least I didn't until just over a month ago.

My local Big W store has a very small gardening section, in amongst their outdoor section. It's a part of the store that I had long overlooked because it never interested me previously. It's amazing what we will filter out.

There was a section of shelving dedicated to these veggie growing kits, and the tomato one stood out as being the most practical and easiest to attempt.

The Growing Kit

Guaranteed to grow, just what I needed.

The growing kit contains a ceramic pot, a soil pellet, a sachet of Dwarf Tomato Seeds and an Aluminium Label and growing instructions.

The soil pellet is wet with warm water and stirred up with a fork in a container other than the ceramic pot given in the kit.
The majority of the soil is the transferred to the pot given.
The seeds are applied to the soil in the pot and covered with the rest of the soil and put in indirect sunlight until they sprout.

By this stage, I had already bought and set up a grow light / hyrdoponic set up for coriander and basil, but I am also using it for extra light for the tomatoes.

As you can see it's very early days in the process, and it's largely just a side project as I sort my life out.

Gardening is a great, passive (if you keep it small enough) distraction from every day nonsense.

Any advice, tips, hints, etc. are most welcome.

Thank you for reading.
