Jennifer Lopez encouraged me to "Let's Get Loud" over the speakers before being replaced by Fatboy Slim who wants to "praise me like he should" which is nice of him.
I'd rather not "get loud" at the moment as I've just finished a long day at work and I just want to unwind a little before catching the train home. I've been up since 6:30am and it's nearly 6pm and food digestion is amplifying my current drowsiness.
I'll need to record another episode of my podcast (which automatically gets broadcast to my Hive blog, so you can find it here easily) tonight as I am trying reach 100 episodes before the end of the year.
I am at 93 episodes so far so I need to get a wriggle on.
Then I need to prepare for work at the Adelaide Oval for the cricket. I'll be selling tickets in the ticket booth. I really am all over the place!
The job I had today was just picking up carpet tiles and stacking them on pallets.
The job is an easy one but repetative and because there were 6 of us workers we decided to actually work slower otherwise we would have finished it by 3pm, meaning less pay.
I we got it done by 4:30pm but the client said it was OK to clock off officially at 5pm.
Even though I was wearing gloves, there are blisters forming on the sides of my fingers and big toe on my right foot is sore from rubbing against the inside of my steel caps. I am wearing thick socks but I think I need bigger boots.
After walking all day, a quick ice bath for my feet is in order and then a long, hot, shower.
In a previous post I talked about how busy I am lately, and it's true to the point where before I can accept another shift, I have to consult my calendar or hand written schedule I've written out on a note pad!
Some days I have shifts in the morning and shifts in the evening at the same location but working for different employers.
Another little stray lead I picked up was finding out that a lot of the local hospitality contracts have been picked up by a new company, and I am going to apply with them tonight.
It pays to listen to people and then act on the best bits of advice. There's no guarantee of anything, but I think I am still early and my friend said they are looking for people who want to work full time, not just temp workers who occasionally don't turn up.
Slowly but surely things are looking up, and my reputation is building. If not exactly locally, but interstate. I'm applying for anything and everything and seeing where the (corn?) chips fall.
We'll see what the future holds.
Thank you for reading.
Until next time,
Big thumbs up!
