A Master Of Disguise

alt

It's currently 2:05am as I type this. It's been a particularly hot day, and I suspect just a little teaser of what to expect for the rest of the Australian Summer.

February is the hottest month of the year here, and the hottest I've ever experienced first hand is 46oC!
(114.8oF)

In fact it's so hot that buying food, especially chocolate from a vending machine is a risky venture. Here's a photo of a packet of Maltesers that melted while still inside the vending machine.

If you've been reading my posts lately you'll know that I am looking for fulltime work. But in the meantime I have been accepting part time work wherever possible.
My goal is to work every single day if possible, and this has lead to some interesting clashes between different companies and schedules, it's also meant that I've had a semi regular income.

At each shift, I make sure to memorise the name of the client and hopefully I'll be able to network and build up a reputation around the city and suburbs.

I needed to let go of who I thought I was and what I thought I was capable of, in order to learn new skills and open up new opportunities.

Yesterday I recieved the certification for passing the barista course I did last week. This should open up new employment opportunities in the near future.

My goal is to work every day next year if I can, but I also know that January and February are quiet periods as people are still recovering from Christmas and New Year's.

In the lead up to next year I am doing as many shifts and as many courses as possible to ensure that happens.

I have another course lined up in a couple of weeks and I'll discuss that one after I pass it and I have a few stray ideas that I'll need to narrow my focus in on.

Things are slowly starting to look up but I am not out of the woods yet; rent needs to be paid every week regardless of what money comes in.

Update: It's now nearly 3pm and I have an interview at a cafe / bakery. I'm nervous but I've heard that the boss is reasonably easy going. Wish me luck!

Update to the update: I have a trial tomorrow afternoon so I am going refresh my mind regarding the barista course and watching a few cafe related YouTube videos.

Let's see where this goes...

Until next time,

Thanks for reading.

From my heart to yours...
