Days to remember for a lifetime
While looking through photographs, I came across the one from my son's First Holy Communion, which was three years ago, but it feels like it was just yesterday. Time flies so fast, and children grow up, and we age, but we don't notice it, or at least we don't want to.
It was a beautiful and sunny day. Everyone was dressed nicely, especially the children, who looked like angels because all 87 of them were dressed in white robes and holding candles. When they all lit their candles, it was truly beautiful and very emotional.
We couldn't find a restaurant for the celebration after the Holy Mass, so we organized everything at home in the yard. We went to the store and bought cheese and homemade prosciutto, and our neighbor gave us homemade smoked sausage, which was really delicious, fine, juicy, and nicely smoked.
We arranged everything nicely on plates and wrapped them in cling film, waiting for the guests. Of course, there were also many types of salads: green, olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, and the indispensable French salad. There were drinks from juices, beer, homemade red and white wine brought by my uncle from the village, to strong drinks.
We also made the cakes ourselves two days earlier, with my own hands making the princess doughnuts and bajaderas that I often make. We were supposed to have live music, an accordion, but my friend's grandmother passed away two days before, so I played music on the tape recorder.
There were 27 of us, just close family and a few close friends. More than anything, I would love for such days to happen more often, for people to get together and socialize more, for there to be laughter and joy, and not for everyone to shut themselves in their homes and in themselves because these days are remembered, and it's worth living for such things.
I hope, friends, that you also have beautiful memories and that you remember them fondly when you look at old photographs.
Confirmation of my older son
However, for the Confirmation of my older son, we did have music, and we managed to find a reasonably priced country house that is used for special occasions.
The house has three bedrooms in case someone drinks a bit too much and decides to stay overnight. In front of the house, there is a large area with an outdoor grill, a bowling alley for some fun for us adults, and of course, a small playground for the children—something for everyone.
This time it was a bit different because we managed to organize everything on time, and the price was really affordable. There were almost 45 of us because there was plenty of space, and since it is located in the countryside, far from any settlements, we could shout and sing late into the night.
It was also beautiful there, and everyone liked it, especially the nature and surroundings, with the nicely mowed lawn, the smell of freshly cut grass, and the large yard without the worry of cars posing a danger to the children.
We celebrated there until the early morning hours, with music and singing as if there were no tomorrow.
It was wonderful.
We were all even more relaxed and carefree because no one had to worry about the children or that anyone would be bored, as there was really a lot of entertaining content.
I wish you all a nice and pleasant day from the bottom of my heart.
