The European Karate Championship has started in Zadar, a place 70 km from my house.
My younger son, who trains karate at the OKIT karate club, went to watch the competitors in the arena in Zadar for three consecutive days with his sensei and team, and of course later took pictures with them and asked for autographs.
We couldn't go the first two days because we were working, but yesterday, the final day, we had a stopover in a town near Zadar for my nephew's communion, so in the morning we went to the arena for two hours to watch a bit of karate skills, and then we continued to my wife's sister's place where we had a little celebration.
Even though we arrived quite late, there was still plenty of meat, salami, cheese, cakes, and pies, which were only then being cut, and of course drinks, so we sat down, ate, and drank, and then went to the nearby field where my wife's sister has cherry trees planted and picked a few kilos to take home. Although they have a big cherry tree in front of the house, the fruits are not as red or ripe as those in the field where, of course, there is more sun and moisture.
The cakes were great, there was one with forest fruits, the smaller round one, and the larger square one was with walnuts and chocolate cream, just everything I love.
In front of the house, they have a large estate with a cottage used for smoking meat products, and of course, they have their own chickens, turkeys, and pigs.
They have olive trees, almonds, and cherries, and of course, there is a wide selection of vegetables, carrots, potatoes, beans...
A real rural estate and a rural atmosphere, relaxing and stress-free.
