There is always a beginning to everything in life, just as an introduction story is the beginning of one's journey to Hive. Writing, to me, is a means of communicating the heavy heart cries without being mindful of age, status and colour of the reader.
My name is Oluwaseun (Thank you lord). "Oluwaseunarafunmi" (God has done wonders for me) is what my late grandma calls me anytime she is happy with me and I love it more. I am an educationist, economist, actress, data vendor, graphics designer and a fashion designer.
Personally, I think the totality of my personality is that I love good looks and character. I discovered my ability to teach with drama at a very tender age. Anywhere I went to, I told people proudly that I wanted to become a teacher but many thought I was clouded by this aspiration because my mom is a teacher. I remember a discussion I had with someone who is like a father-figure in my life since I lost my biological father at a very tender age.
At that time, I had just completed my SSCE and he enquired from me what I wanted to become in life. I was happy to say, "a teacher or an actress".
"Haaa! You want to be poor. Don't you know teachers don't always have money and most actress don't have good marriages?" Those were the responses I got from him.
His word got to me because I had no intention to be poor. Instantly, I changed my dream to becoming a banker and because I wasn't a commercial student, I had to study economics. As God will have it, the only higher institution that offered me admission then was the first University of education in Nigeria (Tai Solarin University of Education) to study economics. Gosh! The education line that I was running from was the path that was not willing to let me go.
After I graduated from there in 2016, I was determined to proceed for my master's degree in Economics which I did so that I can switch to a professional path. I bagged an MSc in Economics from University of Ibadan and got to the streets of Nigeria looking for a good job, I wrote series of applications but when I couldn't cope with idleness I went into teaching, I had taught in the past and was more appreciated for being impactful by my colleagues, students and parents but I was running from teaching.
Presently, I am a teacher but I preferred to be called an educationist because I am not limited to the classroom. It is my dream to function in greater places in the educational sector beyond the four walls of a classroom.
Another thing that I love is counseling, I love counseling girls, especially teenagers. My teenage experience was quite okay because my grandma was a disciplinarian. The present trend of moral decadence among teenagers nowadays are the things I intend to address with my writings and teachings. I was taught not to do what others do alone but to judge with the standard of what harm or good will my action have on the personality, emotions and most importantly, my future and that of others.
I love the beauty of colours, fashion and all that is embodied in looking good. To me, your appearance tells more about you, I do not fancy heavy make-up, nevertheless, whenever it deals with gorgeous dresses and nice colour combo...I am in.
I will be sharing articles mostly on what I love (education, girl child and fashion) and my experiences in graphics design. I was invited to this platform by Philips Afolayan and @vickoly . I am on this platform to learn and relearn, meet people, gain and share experiences.
