Relying on yourself might contradict what I've published in the past regarding friends and how no one is an island.
For me, nooo, your ideas are not contrasting each other. 😊 I think you are expressing the thin line between independence and self-isolation. The former is good while the latter is quite not good.
It's really a good thing to acquire independence from a lot of things. People come and go. They are not meant to stay forever.
Also, people around us, especially friends, are not by our side all the time. One call away kind of people are rare (this is not meant to be negative, hehe). We should understand that they have their own life, problems, stresses, and other things on their plate. We have our own responsibility. So, we must learn to have independence from people, indeed.
+the idea of unwanted pregnancies from teenagers is getting bad statistically and economically. Financial independence is indeed needed when people are trying to build their home 😞
