I don't think anything you are saying is strange or overthinking. I think people don't think about these things enough because they make it harder to exist inside their established lives, but sometimes it's good to make it harder to exist in your established life because there is something better waiting for you. That's why I started wearing crazier clothes and sharing my true tastes more. At first I worried it would scare off my students and it did scare off one or two but I probably found another 4 or 5 who appreciate it and some of my other students started coming to my shows and supporting my music too.
