I just spent 30 minutes writing a serious post about how my understanding of the financial system has changed the way I see the world, but then my PC bugged out and I lost it without getting a saved draft.

So I'm going to post something lazier instead, an update on how I've been. I don't have energy to repost that right now but I still want to talk to the keyboard so I'm going to free flow from now:

DALL·E 2023-08-13 00.55.25 - A dark and scary cave except it's full of complex and colorful flourishing societies. There are beings of various shapes and sizes that are doing all.png

It's been an exciting and yet lazy week. Nothing REALLY happened but I made a new friend and I feel very excited about the conversations we have. I feel like it might be a sign that I will start building a Tokyo tribe of my own finally after 4 years back. I've been hanging out with a community that I like but that doesn't feel like home to me and I've wanted to build something that feels a bit more my style.

One of my students at my show even said that that is what I am doing by inviting my students and my friends to my show... "You are starting a new community by introducing us to each other". I took it as a massive....not compliment....a sign. It's a sign that I'm on the right path.

Now these conversations I've been having with this new friend are an even bigger sign, and when I think about a new kind of community forming around me, I can come up with 3 or 4 other people who I'd like to be a part of it.

You can't force a community. All you can do is bring people together and let them naturally get along or not get along. Sometimes it doesn't go as you planned and that's ok, but at least I found one other person who I am sure I will be able to build something with, and I am excited to talk to her husband because if we get along even half as well, then we have two power couples to start with.

What's the point of a community though? What will this tribe come together for?

It's hard to decide this either, really best if the purpose comes about naturally but from the way we interact, I feel that a major purpose will be to talk about things that are not commonly talked about here, our own personal spiritual exploration, our self exploration, what we hope to achieve through our creative expressions, how we can do work that feels meaningful to us and also fun.

I hope that we can make it easier to collaborate around these things, whether that's to start a company or to hold an event or to just hang out and make an atmosphere where others can open up and get to know each other without any bullshit whatsoever.

I feel that from here on out my work will no longer feel like a burden. Before long, I will not have to spend as much energy on finding students and figuring out my visa and figuring out how to pay the bills. My work will become more and more integrated with my greater purpose of creating a more fun world around me and making deeper connections and growth more exciting and hands on and bringing people together.

A lot of the work happens under the hood. It's easy to feel like I'm not doing enough work to make it happen, but every day I feel more and more like the person I need to be to balance all these different parts of my life without as much struggle.

Meanwhile I'm watching world events unfold and I can't help but feel that the darkest corners of our collective consciousness are currently being lit up for all to see what is inside. As my good friend drrune@drrune said to me today, it's not that things are getting worse, they are better than they've ever been; it's that all the horrible things that have always existed are being brought to light. I agree with this completely.

Around 3 years ago, I finally became able to speak more openly with my parents without it becoming an argument and with a much higher capacity for us to understand each other. I feel that regardless of what things look like, this kind of increased understanding between people who currently couldn't even talk to each other about most things...it will increase rapidly.

It doesn't look like it has any reason to increase right now, but world evens will force us to see each other as human in a way that we were never able to before, and to see each others perspective in ways that we never could before. I could go on and on about this and I will...next time.

It's all coming together somehow.
