Hi everyone!😊 It's another mile in the newbies initiative.

My Hive Experience
It's been a busy but interesting few weeks. I'm so glad I am part of this great community. I don't need reflections to realize how hive has helped me so far, even in things unrelated to hive.

If anyone told me this time last year that I'll be a blogger, I'd probably have shooed them away. My writing skills were comfortably laying beneath rubbles and worries of other things I never wanted to face. But here am I facing it all and dusting off the cobwebs in my writing. Thanks to @monioluwa who introduced me to hive and constantly helps me when I have questions or doubts.

I have met people during these past few months and have learnt so much. A post by @olaoluwapo encouraged me to get back into my reading goals and in March I completed a number of books and I'm on quite a number right now. @temibot and @chosenfingers have also been instrumental in answering some questions I have. I'm grateful for the gift of y'all. Every post I've come across has been an eye-opener for me so I'm grateful for everyone.

We are not new to this idea: passing someone else's work off as yours by not giving the necessary details or disclaimer stating the work is not yours. I feel plagiarism is demeaning. Plagiarism can be unintentional sometimes but I believe there's an extent to which your work will be similar to someone else's before you'll be penalised for it. To ensure that doesn't happen, @reineesmay mentioned that she uses a plagiarism checker before she publishes her posts. That's a great idea, to be on a safe side.

And if the plagiarism is intentional, I have a friend who tells me something, he says "there's only one you in this world and there's a lot you have to offer". Your original work is priceless. It might not be perfect now, that's normal. Renowned artists and all the super cool people all started somewhere, it's a process. Don't deprive yourself of the chance to evolve.

Prior to joining hive, I've always been disconcerted with the idea of vote begging and similar ideas in other social media platforms. Begging for votes is unhealthy. It strips your awesome post of it's coolness. Though subtle, vote begging is not the best self promotion. As newbies, it's sometimes hard to get people engage our posts. But as clarified by @starstrings01, the best you can do is engage other people's posts too. See other people, visit their posts and they'll see you too. As tempting as it can be, vote begging shouldn't be an option in promoting our posts.

Post recycling ranks top three in Uncool Things To Do On Hive. Unlike plagiarism and vote begging, I feel post recycling is a more conscious decision. Making a post more than once in different communities or at different times with little or no changes made to it, sounds very mischievous indeed😂.

Shortcuts to using markdowns make writing posts easier. Thanks to @mistural for the very beneficial post she made on this topic. I'll be sure to make use of them in my posts as from now on.
