I joined this Hive platform four years ago, along with a lot of people, when we switched from the platform we were previously on to this Hive platform. As of today, 95% of those people I came here with are no longer active. Many times, I would update my WhatsApp status with Hive-related topics, and they would comment with, “You still blog on Hive? You have strength ooh!” Asweeeaar, those questions sometimes become so annoying, but I don't take them to heart because I know the angle they are coming from.
Some of these guys opted out when they were just new to the system, after they noticed a lot of things they couldn't cope with, while some of them lasted for a while and left when they also noticed some changes they couldn't cope with.
That aside, I have brought in and tutored a lot of newbies on this platform, and even when I made laws to make them stay no matter how things turned out, so it wouldn't feel like I had wasted my time guiding them to stand firm in the system, all of them have left except just one.
From what I've seen, there are a lot of factors responsible for that, and they stem from both sides too: the factor of the individual and also the factor of the system itself.
Like I mentioned above, everyone I brought into this platform has left except just one person, and the biggest motivating factor I saw in the one who stayed is his desire to gather money. Yes, it may look like we are joking here, but those little cents we are gathering can turn into something tangible in the long run. Yeah, this user understands this, and he's been keeping to it. He didn't get discouraged by the low earnings, especially now that the dip is affecting payments. He didn't give up because of the low notices from whales; he just kept going, and I'm happy that it's going well for him.
Whenever I see people leave this platform, I don't just assume; I believe they have a better source of income somewhere and don't need the cents coming from here. I tell them this whenever they ask me the question of whether I'm still blogging on Hive. Like I always tell the ladies who left, it's very possible they have well-to-do boyfriends who foot their bills. Lol.
I won't lie, the payment system on Hive is not okay at all. It's biased, and I understand why too, because anybody can determine who gets paid. So, if one feels they are not getting well paid, they can go and buy a large volume of HP and become a whale who commands upvotes too. Lol.
But yeah, it takes God's mercy for newbies who are not connected to people-that-matter to get noticed. This weakens me a lot whenever I think about it. So when a newbie leaves after struggling for a while, I don't blame them too.
What can be do to remedy this situation:
Hive is said to be decentralised with everything Please, let the decentralisation speak in all areas. The big accounts shouldn't be selective or centred only around their people and the accounts their people are connected with. Let the votes spread.
