Wherever we are on the canal network we are never very far away from railway lines. The railways effectively kiled off the canal networks as a commercial viabiity with their ability to transport goods much faster.
As the canal networks were already established and in their construction they have effectively used the paths of least resistance the railways tended to lay their tracks very close and often right along side.
I love trains, i mean who doesn't really? Since childhood they have fascinated me.
As we were wandering away from our canalboat and crossing a bridge I stopped to take these photos of the trains progression.
So fast in compared to our little chug along narrowboat.
