Hail to the Hive!
Well monomad lovers as you know clouds are our friends when it comes to black and white shots. Clear skies are no good to anyone but sunbathers so when I got a sniff today of a storm brewing I quickly set the bird up for flight and launched her into the air.
I kinda figured I had a good half an hour to an hour before the 鈥榦rrible wet stuff started to fall from the sky so I set about looking for the best cloud formations and light. The battery also only last about 20 to 25 minutes so I felt that would be fine.
I experimented with different altitudes between 50m and 120m and altered the angle of the camera up and down to reveal and hide strips of land to and from the frame.
Spinning the drone around 360 degrees very slowly while examining the images on the screen. I had monomad in mind because of the clouds looming and studied the i pad screen as I flew pausing to capture images and then adjusting angles and altitudes and retaking shots.
I did this repeatedly until the low battery alarm started to sound and insert the worry into the back of my brain but it didn鈥檛 stop me pausing, as it got lower and the trees were in view, to take a few shots from that perspective.
Once that was done I negotiated my way through the opening in the trees and safely landed.
A most enjoyable 25 mins and well worth it 馃槃.
